WATER-NET is a complete infrastructure designed to control the radioactivity content of drinking water.
The tap water quality must be ensured with respect to the radioactivity content by the local authorities.
WATER-NET offers a system for real time on-site monitoring of the water quality that will be useful in the following tasks:
- early warning in a change of the radioactive content of the water and time reading of the changes
- fast alarm for crossing thresholds that require rapid actions on the tap water distribution system
The radionuclide identification and concentration analysis is time-consuming and expensive and is not justified for routine monitoring. The innovative WATER-NET practical approach allows to avoid expensive analysis using a screening procedure where the total alpha and beta radioactivity is determined.
